Paradise!! 7 night stay here and it was wonderful! Located on the quieter side of the island but a short taxi ride takes you over to Port Elizabeth to the restaurants, bars and shops. Beautiful hotel sitting on Friendship Bay, immaculate gardens, grounds, pool and beach areas. Bagatelle restaurant & bar overlooking beach serves breakfast lunch and dinner of a high standard. Staff are friendly and efficient, obviously staff training a high priority Reception area staff are extremely professional, charming and very helpful and knowledgeable of things to do on the island and beyond. They easily get taxis when you need and they are charged to your room. The Sand Bar which is a short walk along the beach is a great lunch & drink spot, staff excellent and you can charge back to your room as you can at Jacks Bar in Port Elizabeth on Princess Margaret Beach. Bequia beach hotel is a Caribbean gem on a beautiful unspoilt island. We will certainly return and thoroughly recommend it!

This is the 27th year we have come to the Caribbean for a two week winter break but the first one to Bequia. Rather than judge Bequia Beach in isolation, I do so in comparison to others over all those years. So how does Bequia and The Bequia Beach Hotel (BBH) compare with various hotels on Barbados, Antigua and elsewhere in the Grenadines? In a word, poorly in parts. Firstly the journey: An excellent BA flight from LHR arrived slightly early. The new BA business suites in the Boing 787 Dreamliner are almost as good as the Qatar Airlines ones although the food selection was not quite as good. The meet and greet service at Barbados was excellent as we were whisked past the rush hour queues and our luggage brought from the BA flight to the connecting one within a few minutes. We were helped with the paperwork and began boarding very quickly. Unfortunately, we had already been told that the BBH Private aircraft was unavailable so we all crammed on to the hot and noisy SVG Twin Otter for the short flight to Bequia. We had actually chosen this hotel because of its better connecting flight but all our protestations went unanswered. Arrival and customs at Bequia was straightforward and we were soon on our way to the hotel in a taxi (a converted pick-up truck). The roads immediately made us feel at home, or at least the number of potholes did! Reception at BBH was quick and efficient and we were given a brief tour of the grounds before being shown to our room where ALL our bags were waiting for us. The good points about BBH were the location, the grounds and the staff. The worse bits were the food and the restaurant service which were simply not in the same league as others we have stayed at despite the expensive price. Sat right on the Atlantic beach, we could almost jump from our room to the sand and sea and we had a great view of Mustique to wake up to each morning. Despite the 32 degrees throughout most days, the Atlantic breeze made it very pleasant. In the reasonably large room, the air conditioning worked well but the room was gloomy and very dated and the soft furnishings dull and dirty, well past their sell by date. The bathroom was a decent size too but the shower hose was broken and there was a crack in the shower tray. The former was mended on request. The large grounds were lovely with lots of tropical trees and flowers and well kept too, although having a gardener strimming the lawns every day became a bit tedious. A lawn mower would be a good investment. The two swimming pools were also very good and kept immaculately clean by constant attention. We mainly used the large freshwater pool which was never busy and there were always plenty of sunbeds available and an excellent young lady (sorry, didn't get your name) who kept us supplied with iced water and drinks. The hotel provided a complimentary daily shuttle to and from its own Jack's Bar on the Caribbean side of the island. As elsewhere in the Caribbean, this side

Our first family holiday was our 5 month old! This hotel was absolutely gorgeous- stunning grounds, beautiful Junior Suite room, lovely staff and great facilities. The room was very comfortable with a separate bedroom and crib for our baby. There are 2 restaurants. One with an Italian menu and also a beach bar that serves lunch. Very tasty food in all places. A good breakfast with something for everyone. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They also have a lovely kids club and will take babies from a young age. Great access to Port Elizabeth (7 mins in a taxi) and all other local interests are nearby. We recommend an island tour! Unfortunately for my bank account, this is quite likely to become a December tradition!

Stayed here at the Bequia Beach hotel this past week for seven nights, traveling solo. The hotel was a beautiful property with a great West Indies style. The staff was all nice and helpful when needed. The grounds were well maintained with daily raking of the yards as well as the beach chair area. They had a nice steam room that I used daily. Stayed in one of the “classic rooms”. The room was nice and all that I needed, and serviced daily. Definitely glad I didn’t spend all the extra on the beach front suites as I wouldn’t have been in the room much during daylight anyways. It had a nice view out over the property. Just be sure you are mobile enough to get up to these rooms. I had rental car the whole week and there was plenty of good safe parking. I think I was the only one that had a rental on the property. The concierge/guest services manager was excellent. Went to inquire about going on a sail and she knew everything about the current availability by the charter companies. Handled getting me booked on a trip to Mustique and also had a contact on Mustique to set up a rental of a mule too. The rate included the huge breakfast buffet at Bagatelle. Buffet isn’t my thing at all but there was a large selection (awful sausage) which kept the old Brits all grazing, plus there was a nice egg station (although some well undercooked) and you could also order French toast or eggs benedict too. Breakfast was all good and a great setting there on the beach. Bar kept the drinks flowing all day. Was a beautiful, very quiet beach and not busy at all with outsiders as it was on the “rougher” Atlantic side. Jack’s Bar on the opposite side of the island was a great spot for lunch and food and drinks were good. They had a nice parking lot up top above the bar too. Now that side of the island is busy with many other non guests. Ate one night at their secondary restaurant Blue Tropic (only because I was hammered from the manager’s social and a day of cocktails and didn’t want to drive any more on those lousy roads) and had a very delicious, large pumpkin & ginger soup and tasty homemade lobster ravioli (although only four small ones for like US$32!). No idea why the guy at reception continuously told guests it was reservation only as that wasn’t the case. Other than one night the restaurant was basically empty. Negatives: I didn’t think the food at their main restaurant Bagatelle was very good at all. Ate dinner there the first night and then never went back for dinner the rest of the week and never tried lunch. Just bland with no creativity at all. I think the food matches the majority of the guests: old Brits. The menu was so uninteresting the first night I ended up ordering “French” onion soup and then the chicken Corden bleu. On an island. LOL. The French onion soup came out in a small cup maybe 2/3 full with no melted cheese and bread on top. None. Also had ½ the amount of onions that should have been in it, maybe less than t

We had a wonderful time at Bequia Beach Hotel for a few reasons. The staff, especially Rima, is absolutely amazing. When we had an issue with our luggage, Rima stepped in and organized a fix that made what could be a terrible start to the trip, a non issue. The staff at the kids club helped our children explore the property and learn about the different fruits and trees growing on the property. Definitely one of the most unique kids clubs the kids have ever been too. Kiara was super friendly and an ever present smile. The food is a 5/5 at all of the associated restaurants, including Jacks, which isn’t attached but is related to the resort. We truly enjoyed our trip, just wish we had more time! We can’t wait to go back.

If you are looking for a very low key, and yet luxurious in the sense of being provided with everything you could need getaway holiday, then Bequia Beach is perfect. (We didn't miss TV, though internet better than back in the UK) It is unpretentious, has spacious rooms, friendly and attentive staff, excellent food, and this vibe very much in keeping with the unspoilt charm of Bequia island. We stayed from 3rd -12th Dec, weather perfect at this time, 30 degrees but with a cooling breeze- or wind . Sister venues of Jacks Bar and the Sandbar also excellent. Fish on the menu everyday, Lobster, Tuna, and the freshest, juiciest Prawns I have ever eaten . All you need do is bring some good books, and look forward to a week of snorkelling, swimming, chilling on quiet or deserted beaches. Caribbean veterans told us again and again this was like a step back in time, and their favourite choice. Thank you to all staff Bequia Beach, we would love to come back.....

Actually the pillows weren't very good. Nor the new Sand Bar - iron hard chairs, slow service and poor choice. But overall we felt the whole place was more professional and the food better. We are sad Bequia Air is no more and fret about transfers. We were not given accurate info on the leaving tax
